Hello coaches,
Thank you for taking the time to go over some key information regarding this event.
For general race day information, please check out the 'RACE DAY' page.
Re: Buses - The Wilmot Recreation Complex (WRC) is located at 1291 Nafziger Road, Baden. If you are travelling west along Highway 7/8 from Kitchener, take a right at the stoplights on Nafziger. Take the next right into the WRC. Please follow the direction of the marshalls and behind the WRC building toward the east side of the building (as seen on the map below).
Buses must drop-off and pick up your teams along Gingerich Road (beside the grass by the playground structure). If buses are staying for the event, they should park as far south as possible on Gingerich road in order to make room for buses returning to pick up other teams. When departing the WRC, buses should follow Gingerich road and take a right at Foundry Street (before taking the on-ramp onto Highway 7/8).
Upon arrival: (by bus), we ask that you allow one of our students (from the WODSS Athletic Leadership Class) to welcome and speak to your team on the bus.
Team Base Camps - Please set your team up in front of the Pavilion on the grass. This is the area for your team to set up your tent and/or drop off your bags.
Reminders for Coaches:

Reminders for Coaches:
- You are responsible for students/athletes throughout the event
- Inform all students/athletes that the Wilmot Recreation Complex building is generally OUT OF BOUNDS.
- For safety purposes, discourage your team from travelling through the parking lot or along any roads
- If athletes are injured, please treat them using your school's first aid kit. WODSS will not have extensive medical supplies or personnel on hand. If the nature of the injury warrants it, an ambulance will be called.
- Washrooms are located on the east side of the building (beside the playground).
- Discourage shoes with metal spikes. There are wooden sections that we do not want to damage.
- See below for our EMERGENCY PLAN

Emergency Plan:
In the event that The Schmidty is cancelled before the start time (due to unforeseen circumstances), participants will be notified by email and our website. Event organizers will be at the venue (WRC) to redirect anybody who was not notified in time.
Once the event begins, those in attendance will be made aware that three loud blasts from our air horn will signal a stop to the event and that they are to return to the area by the pavilion beside the playground/splash pad. An announcement will be made updating attendees of the nature of the stoppage.
In the case that the event is cancelled, all attendees will be asked to leave the premises as soon as possible.
If the event is paused due to inclement weather (eg. tornado warning, thunderstorm), attendees will take shelter in their vehicles (if applicable) or the lobby of the WRC (pending approval of the WRC). If the weather improves for 15-30 minutes and it is still within the timeframe of the rental period, then the event will resume in an adapted form (likely by removing 1-2 heats).
In the event of a relatively minor bodily injury during The Schmidty, every school in attendance will treat their athlete through their own supplies and medical training.
In the event of a serious bodily injury, an ambulance will be called and directed to the Wilmot Recreation Complex (1291 Nafziger Road, Baden). Event organizers will direct paramedics to the location of the injured person(s).
If The Schmidty is cancelled, it will NOT be rescheduled.
